Abo Randers

ABO Randers: Iconic Danish Lighting Design
ABO Randers was a Danish lighting company that, despite producing a limited range of lamps, achieved significant commercial success. Founded in the early 1960s, the company became a key player in mid-century Scandinavian lighting design, creating durable and stylish lamps that became household staples in Denmark and beyond.

Iconic Designs & Success
One of ABO Randers' most successful creations was the Mag and Ny-Mag lamps, designed by P. Bosque. These lamps became a defining feature of Danish homes, admired for their minimalist aesthetics, quality craftsmanship, and effective light diffusion. The brand focused on using high-quality materials such as aluminum and glass, emphasizing functionality and timeless elegance.

Mergers & Evolution
During the 1980s and 1990s, ABO Randers went through a series of mergers that shaped its legacy. It was first incorporated into Lyskaer-Lyfa, along with the prestigious Fog & Mørup, and later became part of ES Horn Belysning. This company eventually evolved into Lightyears, which was acquired in 2015 by Fritz Hansen, a renowned Danish cabinetmaking and furniture design brand.

ABO Randers’ Legacy
Although ABO Randers no longer operates as an independent brand, its iconic lighting designs remain highly sought-after by vintage collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century modern and Scandinavian design. Their lamps continue to illuminate interiors worldwide, symbolizing Danish craftsmanship and timeless design aesthetics.
