Martinelli Luce

Martinelli Luce, an iconic Italian lighting brand, traces its roots back to the 1940s when set designer Elio Martinelli began creating lamps for theatre productions. These technical-decorative luminaires were designed to integrate seamlessly with set designs, enhancing the theatrical narrative while meeting precise lighting needs. Encouraged by the renowned architect Giò Ponti, Elio expanded his work beyond the stage, touring Tuscany on a Lambretta to present his innovative lamps.

Founded in 1953, Martinelli Luce began in a small basement "laboratory," where Elio crafted decorative lamps inspired by geometry and nature. His designs, known for their functional yet aesthetically pleasing forms, often utilized novel materials like methacrylate, setting the brand apart. This foundation in technical innovation and artistic design has allowed Martinelli Luce to maintain its unique identity for over 70 years, continuing a family legacy that began with Elio's father, Plinio, in the illuminating business. Today, Martinelli Luce remains a leader in architectural and decorative lighting, blending tradition with modernity.
